A short introduction to MBTI

I have written several articles here and there about personalities. Today I’m gonna expand them into new territory, MBTI. It really helps to get an idea about people and it gives you a chance to evaluate yourself.

There are many ways to categorise people. There are no rigid borders in these categorisations. But you can identify similar people with similar traits with these categorisations. This is one of those categorisations. It’s called Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or MBTI in short. (All the types in MBTI)

According to this method, there are 16 types of people. It’s like categorising colours. You know there is an infinite number of colours yet you categorise colours as red, blue, green etc. Likewise, there is an infinite number of different personalities among people. But for the ease of studying, we categorise all of them into 16 types.

There are other categorisation methods as well. MBTI is just one of the most popular ones.

You can float among several similar categories over the course of your life. Like I have moved from INTP to ENTP. Currently, I am actually in the middle of the transition. I’m more like an xNTP now. I’m not an Introvert nor an Extrovert. I am an Ambivert now. I don’t know whether I will fully be an Extrovert or not. Let’s see. What I wanted to tell you is that the change happened because I wanted to change. So it’s all about you. If you want to change, you can totally change. That’s why I said these are not rigid boxes.
